In April 2022 on our way to Portland (Vic) we joined the Great Ocean Road at Princetown, so we could visit the 12 Apostles and a couple of other coastal rock features, heading west.

Daywalk at West Head – Resolute Beach

Resolute – Mackerel Beach Loop

There are many good walks on West Head, one of best is the Resolute Beach Loop. This is my variation which extends the walk a bit, at the expense of a bit of road walking to close the loop, including (Great) Mackerel Beach rather than visit it as an out and back. The walk is on the eastern side of West Head and visits 3 beaches in Pittwater. About 10km, with time for swimming on the way.

Daywalk to Barrenjoey Lighthouse

Barrenjoey Lighthouse

This is a great short walk near Palm Beach, Sydney with views and a historic destination.

Broken Bay is to the north of Sydney Harbour and is another impressive body of water. Barrenjoey light safeguards shipping from the southern headland and the northern shore defines the start of the Central Coast.

The view north and south from here, cliffs, beaches and inlets provide a great exposition of why this coast was named “New South Wales”

Sydney Foreshores – Taronga to Balmoral.

Sydney has a fantastic Harbour Foreshores National Park. There are some great short walks, just for a morning or afternoon stroll or as a fantastic way to show off Sydney and it harbour to visitors. Here are a few bits, collected from a couple of different walks.

Not only is Sydney Harbour spectacular, but the other major waterways als have great appeal. Some walks on other foreshores are here as well.

Dad & Daughter : Day walk to Sealers Cove, Wilsons Promontory (Jan 2017)

Best day walk on the Prom. Mt Oberon to Sealer Cove and back.

Another delightful day walk on our way to Melbourne. Starting from the car park below Mt Oberon and following the great track to Sealers Cove.
