Barrenjoey Lighthouse<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is a great short walk near Palm Beach, Sydney with views and a historic destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Broken Bay is to the north of Sydney Harbour and is another impressive body of water. Barrenjoey light safeguards shipping from the southern headland and the northern shore defines the start of the Central Coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The view north and south from here, cliffs, beaches and inlets provide a great exposition of why this coast was named “New South Wales”<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Get yourself to Palm Beach, drive or take the long bus trip, via Sydney’s northern beaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depart from the most northerly car park and walk along the bay side beach to the base of the headland.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The light house building shows the way.  You can ascend on either the longer access road (800m)  or via the “Smugglers path” (400m). Either way its only a short walk and modest climb to the lighthouse building from 1880.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

his is the 1880 lighthouse, the most recent. There were 2 previous lights. There is a location stone for the older lights.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

There are great views of Broken Bay, the east coast and the Central Coast from the headland<\/p>\n\n\n\n
